Climate Security Fund changes its name

EPF Activities
Climate security is a very broad concept that encompasses a variety of activities. It can be related to work on reducing emissions and protecting against natural threats caused by climate change. It includes maintaining the integrity of climate-sensitive ecosystems and even preserving the individual species that inhabit them.
"Such vast and ambitious tasks require a large cadre of specialists from various fields. At the same time, the concrete, applied tasks that our staff tackle on a daily basis remain vague and incomprehensible to a wide audience due to the high degree of abstraction in the very name of the fund. That is why, after long discussions and consultations, we decided to change the name of the Fund to the Environmental Protection Fund - Ecophone," said Sergey Rafanov, Director of the Fund.
Ecophone is a kind of umbrella brand. This is the name of the application that the Fund's specialists have developed and already launched. Under this name the ecological rating of regions is published annually, which this year is scheduled to appear in mid-November. Ecophone is also a Telegram channel, where the fund regularly publishes current news about its activities, as well as tells about interesting events in Russia and the world related to ecology and environmental protection.
"We have decided to focus on a limited range of tasks and the change of name in this case is a relevant step, more accurately reflecting the specifics of our future activities. At the same time, we are not abandoning the already launched projects and will certainly continue their implementation. This applies to the permafrost conservation project, the restoration of disturbed wetlands, and the Carbon Footprint Calculator, which is currently at the development stage. We also plan to continue organizing the annual International Children's Environmental Forum," explained Sergey Rafanov.
The Ecophone Fund will develop national environmental standards and digital technologies to improve the quality of environmental management. The organization's priorities include increasing the role of civil society in environmental protection and preservation of biological diversity, formation of ecological thinking, ecological culture of citizens, as well as the creation of an effective system of environmental education.
